DevOps Engineering Manager

The DevOps Engineering team is responsible for aiding in the development of Geneoscopy's diagnostic test by helping manage the software infrastructure. This is a team leadership role with a degree of hands-on responsibilities. Areas of responsibility will include Team Leadership, CI/CD Pipeline management, Cloud Infrastructure management, Automation and Infrastructure as Code, Incident management, Collaboration and Communication, and Strategic Planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, setting goals, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and automated deployments.
  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) to support development and deployment needs.
  • Drive automation initiatives and implement infrastructure-as-code practices to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Lead incident response efforts, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and other stakeholders to align on goals, processes, and best practices.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, identifying areas for optimization and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Contribute to the overall DevOps strategy and roadmap, aligning with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Champion cybersecurity best practices, monitoring practices, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Works closely with engineering management to support Operations.
  • Manages and appropriately escalates delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes.
  • Implements quality control and review systems throughout the development and deployment process.
  • Manages the analysis and approval of new code through security and performance gates.
  • Maintains issue tracking and documentation systems, providing reports to ensure proper tracking of issues and projects.
  • Administers established policies and procedures, potentially impacting departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
  • Provides coaching and/or mentoring to others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
  • Possess 5+ years of hands-on individual contributor experience.
  • Demonstrate proven experience in leading and managing technical teams, setting goals, and providing performance feedback.
  • Possess the ability to identify and resolve technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions.
  • Exemplify:
    • Experience with Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and/or GCP Cloud.
    • Experience using containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
    • Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Possess a strong understanding of:
    • DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, containerization, and automation tools.
    • Various infrastructure and automation code tools like Ansible, Terraform, Argo CD.
    • Cyber security practices in a hybrid cloud situation, as well as a good understanding of IAM.
    • Networking best practices and hybrid networks.

SCHEDULE
This is a salaried position that requires at least 40 hours per week. There may be projects that require activities beyond the standard hours.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Base salary range: $140,000 - 160,000/annually, determined based on the candidate's experience, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Bonus: discretionary annual bonus based on a percentage of the employee's base salary
